CERTIFICATIONS
OFPT certification (Oral Facial Pain TRAINING):
OFPT Certification was designed for chiropractors and registered massage therapists (Who have proven successful supporting giving exclusive soft tissue focus). Chiropractors will be empowered to diagnose and treat patients, with RMT's able to support in their treatment.

The Trainings
​
​OFPT only accept a portion of applicants to ensure the highest quality of trained practitioners, and geographical distance between each to maintain dentist network integrity. When you have been accepted, you will be granted access to 15 hours of pre-course reading and video content, before the 18 hour, live, hands-on course, and subsequently a minimum of 10 hours post-class virtual NP assessment observation.

In-person training will either be held in your province or in our Jaw & Facial Pain Centre in Toronto.

Step 1:

18 hours, live training (over one weekend), covering the following:
Day 1

Review the current information for TMD’s including epidemiology

Anatomy of the head, neck, and stomatognathic system

Hands on palpation of the anatomy
-
Review of the DC-TMD and common language to optimize communication with dental referrals

History taking for the Allied Health Professional with a focus on the most common conditions

Practical history taking
-
Physical Exam (3 part)

Clinical case studies From History to physical to diagnosis

Review of the 5 most common TMDs seen in your office

Common TMD treatments
Day 2

Rehabilitation techniques for common diagnoses with a focus on conservative-reversible therapy provided by allied health professionals including supportive care/homework/self-care

‘Which “Trismus” is it?’

Cervicogenic oro-facial pain - Core evidence based cervical exam and its significance in oro-facial pain

Step 2:
Perfect your skills with 10 hours virtual training, observing Dr. Sid conducting new patient assessments (over 60 days). New patient observations allow the trainee to see and learn from a wide spectrum of diagnostic and therapeutic issues. Within your subscription, you will benefit from a full year of unlimited virtual observation.
​​You can begin seeing patients after the first weekend's training. Formal certification will be granted once the virtual training is complete.
ADVANCED TRAINING FOR DENTAL AND MEDICAL PROFESSIONALS (Oral Facial Pain TRAINED Dentist): ​

Accurately screen dental patients for MSK vs. Odontogenic pain/dysfunction and provide ongoing resources
-
Training involves history taking, examination, and separating common diagnoses.

Practical and/or in-person training is location-dependent.
